JW Marriott Phuket in collaboration with International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has an ongoing project to combat mangrove deforestation in the Baan Tab Pla, Phang Nga Province. Together they have planted over 50,000 mangrove saplings. This is part of the Marriott’s “Serve 360: Doing Good In Every Direction.” – a global commitment to sustainability and environmental strategy. In 2018 another 20,000 mangrove saplings will be planted in Phang Nga, Rayong, Samut Sakorn and Samui as the JW Marriott Phuket continues to support local communities through mangrove reforestation.
Al was commisioned to make a film about the reforestation program and the local communities who call this fragile eco-system their home.
